The secret to good health is as transparent as following these basic guidelines. Simply give them a try and experience a healthier you.

  • Consume small frequent meals maintaining 2-3 hourly gaps.
  • Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, skipping your first meal is the first step to health disaster.
  • Make sure you remove those 40 minutes a day to do your exercise. Just the way you don’t forget to brush your teeth and take a bath, make your workout a part of your daily routine.
  • Ensure you are wearing well fitting clothes such as slacks and leotards under your tracks or t-shirts respectively as excessive weight/inch loss may cause stretch marks and sagging skin which can be prevented simply by keeping the skin firm and taut especially during any rigorous activity.
  • Never exercise without a pre-workout meal. Those days of going for a walk empty stomach are a thing of the past. Ensure that you have a fruit or glass of milk or sandwich 30-40 minutes before you sweat it out or else you could lose more muscle than fat.
  • Your post workout meal is of equal importance. Make sure within half an hour of a cardiovascular exercise you consume a small or at least an anti-oxidant rich salad, vegetable juice or whole fruit. This rejuvenates you and compensates the electrolyte losses. Also the anti-oxidant absorption is 3 fold after successful activity.
  • Water intake should be minimum 3-4 liters a day. This does not include the fluids and juices we consume through the day. In fact, every extra cup of tea/ coffee/ cola requires an equal amount of water to meet our hydration requirements.
  • High protein diets are gaining importance especially in india as its been proved that this major nutrient is largely neglected in our Indian menus. Indian diet, being highly a carbohydrate based diet, tends to lag behind, most of the times, in our protein intakes. Lack of stamina, loss of lean muscle mass, excessive hair fall are all directly caused due to our poor protein consumption.
  • Rice bran oil is considered as the Indian olive oil today. Its simply the best option for cooking since its affordable and at the same time does not alter the flavour of our Indian meals as olive oil would do.
  • Green tea is a fabulous replacement to the large amounts of tea/ coffee we consume all day long. Its an extremely rich source of anti-oxidants also popularly known to prevent cancer.
  • Last but not the least sleep continuously for minimum 6 hrs at a stretch, that’s the amount of time your body needs to repair. 8 hrs is your daily requirement.
